The District Chief Executive, Honourable George Wumbei on behalf of the Saboba District Assembly received a delegation from the Bank of Ghana, Tamale.
The purpose of the visit of the delegation was to introduce the new Regional Director for the Bank of Ghana and to also have a stakeholder engagement with the Saboba District Assembly on key issues. The issues raised were on
- Emergence of unlicensed Microfinance companies
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML) activities
- Garnishee orders from Courts that affects the smosmooth operations of District Assemblies.
- Manhandling of our currency.
Honourable George Wumbei commended the Bank for its steadfast services to the Saboba District Assembly and as well raised concerns about the public’s refusal to accept GH¢0.20 Pesewas coins and other Bank notes.
The Regional Director in response said the Bank will take the matter up to address this unfortunate issue.
