Thursday, 20 Nov 2025 , The District Chief Executive for Saboba, Hon. George Bilimor Wumbei commissioned a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the Zagbeli Electoral Area of the Saboba District of the Northern Region worth GH¢ 945,264.45 with funding from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) RFG Grant.
The facility forms part of efforts to strengthen community-based healthcare delivery in underserved areas and reflects the deepening concern of the District Assembly aimed at promoting grassroot human security through targeted health interventions.
Speaking at the ceremony, the District Director of Health Services, Mr. Aremeyaw Zaid, thanked the Saboba District Assembly for the kind gesture of sitting a CHPS Compound in Zagbeli. He mentioned that prior to the commissioning of the facility, the District Health Directorate posted a facility In-charge and a Midwife to ensure the smooth running of the facility to further ameliorate the plight of mothers traveling for long distances to attend to their maternal needs. Mr. Zaid described the project as a symbol hope and gratitude to the Ghana Health Services and the good people of Zagbeli.
Hon. George expressed joy as the facility comes fully equipped with medical furnishings, including patient beds, delivery beds, examination beds, infant and adult weighing scales, and other essential equipment. He said this will undoubtedly enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to the people of Zagbeli and surrounding communities. He seized the opportunity to commend the contractor for a job well done, the community for their support, and all stakeholders for their contributions. He further urged the community to take good care of the facility and ensure its optimal use.
The Zagbeli CHPS compound is a testament to government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services in rural communities. The facility boasts a clinic with two consulting rooms, a delivery room, and a detention room. The accommodation side features two single-bedrooms, self-contained apartments, ensuring that our health workers have a comfortable place to stay.
