On Thursday, 9th May 2024, at the forecourt of Saboba District Assembly, the District Chief Executive, Hon. George Bingrini presented 110 Sewing machines and 80 start-up Carpentry tools to Youth of some clusters in Saboba District.
The beneficiary clusters include; Saboba Central, Saboba West, Demong, and Gbangbanpong. He encouraged the recipients to make good use of the machines and tools as it will help improve upon their livelihoods.
The machines presented forms part of the Local Economic Development – LED component of the project for 2023, which seeks to support youth in the district to set-up/scale-up their businesses.
He said in the coming weeks, Rice processors and Mechanics will be given their start-up tools. The machines and tools presented, was funded by the World Bank, the Government of Ghana (GoG), through the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGDRD), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. The Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) project seeks to improve regional collaboration, socio-economic and climate resilience of border-zone communities in the target Northern Regions of the Gulf of Guinea countries exposed to conflict and climate risks.
The project is being implemented in Six (6) Regions and Forty-Eight (48)MMDAs in Ghana namely the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, North-East, Savannah and Oti Regions of which Saboba District is a beneficiary.
