67th Independence Day Celebration in Saboba

The 67th Independence Day Parade was held under the theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride!” The theme serves as a reminder of the immense value and significance of the democratic principles that underpin our society.

The gathering of stakeholders and the public to grace the occasion of Ghana’s independence through March pass, preceded by a wonderful display of “Kinachong and Tiibaln” as performed by the cultural troop of St. Charles Lwanga R/C Junior High School in Saboba. That was an evidence of Cultural progression and hope for the future.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. George Bingrini, delivered a speech that emphasized the theme of the celebrations.

“Elections constitute one of the key components of a vibrant democracy and in many African countries, the electoral processes are fraught with irregularities which have been the causes of numerous armed conflicts in the Continent. Our collective resolve to ensure that our democracy thrives has seen the electoral processes being taken seriously and treated delicately. Since the ushering in of our current democratic dispensation in 1992, the country has largely been experiencing very peaceful electoral processes. Besides being characterized by relative peace, the country has also had timely elections”. He said.

Also, “The activities of Islamic extremist in the Sahel is a source of increasing worry to government and well-meaning persons in the country. Developments in some of our neighbouring countries are an indication that we ought to be very worried about our security and must work to preserve our democracy. I wish to use this opportunity to call on all of us to remain vigilant and look out for strangers who exhibit strange behaviours around us. Let us endeavour to report such persons to the security agents for immediate action to be taken”.

As we approach the peak of our political campaigns, he appealed to all political parties to be mindful of their utterances as we embark on our various campaigns. And thanked all development partners in the district for their numerous support.

Happy 67th Independence Day to all.
