The DCE for Saboba, Hon. George Wumbei Bilimor, led a delegation comprising the Coordinating Director and assembly staff to inspect SOCO projects in the district. This visit aimed to evaluate the projects’ progress and ensure their timely completion. SOCO projects are initiatives aimed at addressing social cohesion and development challenges in Northern Ghana, funded by a $150 million World Bank credit facility.

The Saboba District has undertaken various SOCO projects, including infrastructure development initiatives such as the construction of a 6-unit model girls’ school at Hilltop and the completion of a maternity ward with consulting rooms at Demong. Additionally, market stores are being constructed and market sheds renovated at the Saboba market.

In terms of water and sanitation, the district is drilling boreholes fitted with handpumps or solar-powered pumps and constructing limited mechanized water systems. Furthermore, community development projects include the renovation of community centers and offices.

These projects aim to enhance the district’s infrastructure, improve access to clean water, and support community development.

These projects are designed to enhance livelihoods, strengthen the local economy, and improve infrastructure in the district. The DCE’s visit demonstrates the assembly’s commitment to monitoring progress and ensuring the successful completion of these projects.

The DCE and his team kicked off their tour at Nankpel community, inspecting the ongoing construction of roads and culverts – crucial projects that will significantly improve transportation and accessibility in the area. The team then proceeded to Gbangbapong to monitor progress on the CHPS compound project, which promises to boost healthcare delivery for the local population once completed.

The DCE was encouraged by the progress made so far and expressed his sincere hope that these projects will be completed on schedule and utilized effectively. Upon completion, they will significantly ease the burdens faced by our people and enhance the quality of life in these communities.
