On Monday, 30th October 2023, Mr. George Kitingyaab Bingrini handed over 5 subprojects under the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion – SOCO Projects to contractors in the Saboba District.
Handing over the sites to contractors, the District Chief Executive for Saboba District Assembly, Mr. George Kitingyaab Bingrini reiterated the importance of these projects to beneficiary clustered communities in the district. Since it will be addressing livelihood and economic issues, strengthening our local economy, and expanding infrastructure in the district. The subprojects are in dotted in 5 communities which includes Hilltop – Saboba, New Market and Community Centre, Demong and Kuwani.
These SOCO Projects, are being executed in 48 beneficiary Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies – MMDAs in 6 Regions, predominantly in the Northern part of Ghana, is an important and timely intervention aimed at addressing some key emerging and recurring challenges in the Northern part of Ghana thus according to experts. The beneficiary Districts under the USD 150 Million Credit Facility secured through the Government of Ghana from the World Bank includes Saboba District in the Northern Region.

The subprojects below are those for 2023 and sooner than later the 2024 subprojects will be advertised for the bidding processes to commerce.
Completion of 1No. 6-Unit Model Girls’ School, an Office, a Library, a Staff Common room, 5000litre Water Storage Tank, 1No. 6-Unit Water Closet, 1No. 4-Unit Shower and 1No. 1-Bedroom Self-Contained Accommodation at Hilltop. The contract is awarded to M/s Kumodo Company Ltd at the sum of GH¢ 772,031.61 to be completed in 6 months.
Construction of 1No. 7-Bed Capacity Maternity Ward with 2No. Consulting Rooms, Renovation of existing 1No. CHPS Compound and Supply of Medical Equipment at Demong and contract awarded to M/s A.Y. Agoga Enterprise at the sum of GH¢ 735,851.04 to be completed in 7 months.
1No. 10-Unit Water Closet Toilet with 1No. 4-Unit Shower room, 1No. 2-Unit Urinal and 5000litre Water Storage Tank Saboba market. Construction of 1No. 6-Unit Market Stores, Renovation of 2No. Market Sheds and 2No. Market Stalls at Saboba market and Renovation of Saboba Community Center’s Conference Hall, 2No. offices, and 1No. Training room the projected is awarded to M/s M.A. Gana Expert Ltd at a total sum of GH¢ 940,833.85 to be completed in 7 months.
Construction of Limited Mechanized Water System (2No. Boreholes, 2No. Solar powered submersible pumps, 10,000 litre Storage tank, 2km transmission and distribution lines)
Demong and Kuwani and projects awarded to M/s Richdad Investments Ltd with the contract sum of GH¢ 217,096.00 to executed in 4 months.
Siting and Drilling of 1No. Borehole fitted with handpump at Kuwani, Sitting, drilling and mechanization of 1no. borehole with 5000L capacity tank mounted on elevated concrete stand powered by solar system M/s Richdad Investments Ltd and the total contract sum of GH¢ 257,191.00 to be done in 4 months.
The Representative of Uchaborbor, Umoateek-Ubor Tigme Majjiba was excited about the new projects and pledged the support of Uchaborbor to make them a reality.

Community Facilitators, Community Project Implementation Committees, Assembly members, Contractors, Tamale SOCO Zonal Officers, Ghana Education Service Representatives, District SOCO Project Implementation Team and Staff of the District Assembly were present at the handing over ceremony.
Mr. Goerge Bingrini said it is his humble hope and pleasure that, Contractors will receive maximum support from the respective communities to ensure a successful completion of the projects.
