The Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project conducted a series of press engagements between November 12th and November 15th, 2024, in the Savannah, Upper East, Upper West, Northern, and North East regions. The purpose of these sessions was to update the media and the public on the progress of the projectβs first year, sharing key statistics from the 530 implemented subprojects and ongoing LED grant model implementation.
Across these regions, SOCO has successfully implemented critical infrastructure projects, including roads, schools, healthcare centres, and water facilities. The press engagements also highlighted SOCOβs efforts to engage youth and promote social cohesion through activities such as the βSOCO Games,β cultural festivals, and Youth Parliamentary sittings. These initiatives are creating opportunities for positive youth involvement, strengthening unity, and promoting peace within communities.
Each session in the mentioned regions was graced by the respective Regional Ministers, who read speeches on behalf of the Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Regional Development.
These sessions demonstrate SOCOβs dedication to transparency, accountability, and its ongoing commitment to fostering development and resilience in Ghanaβs northern regions.
